2020 WRITERS UNLEASHED FESTIVAL - CANCELLED
The Writers Unleashed Festival Committee has made the difficult decision to cancel the Festival.

Whilst our Festival was scheduled for August, we are conscious of the need to plan ahead given the uncertainty and fast-moving nature of the situation. The health and safety of our presenters and attendees is our highest priority formed the basis of our decision.

This is not a decision we have come to lightly, however we believe it is the right thing to do to keep our followers informed.​

However, we do intend to organise some online editor consultations. More details will be published soon. AND our Picture Book Writing Competition is still going ahead.

Sutherland Shire Writers' Festival
Proudly brought to you by the Fellowship of Australian Writers, Sutherland branch

For many years, writers and readers from Sydney and beyond have relied on Writers Unleashed to bring interesting and thought-provoking presentations and workshops to them.

​Writers Unleashed will return in 2021 to feature some of Australia's best literary talent.

The Festival is a growing community and literary event.  From humble beginnings, we have expanded to incorporate workshops, publishing consultations, author talks and book signings.

With a strong focus on promotion and support of Australian writers and publishers, the Festival aims to educate and encourage aspiring writers and illustrators throughout the region.

Many of our presenters are at the top of their field, though we also love to promote newly emerging talents. The topics and genres presented aim to reflect the diversity of writers within Australia. 

We will be back in 2021, running sessions concurrently across three rooms, devoted to presentations by children's,  YA and adult writers. There will be an editor panel discussion and we will announce the winners of our annual picture book writing competition.
