Following recent restrictions announced by the Australian Government in relation to non-essential indoor gatherings for 100 people or more, to control the spread of COVID-19, the Writers Unleashed Festival Committee has made the inevitable (yet heart-breaking) decision to cancel this years’ Festival.
The 2020 program is one that the committee is incredibly proud of and the team is devastated that we will not have the opportunity to take it to the public. However, we wholeheartedly accept the role we all have to play in this difficult time, and agree with the necessity of the restrictions. We intend to still offer editor consultations online - stay tuned for details.

We still have a few spots left with editor Paul Collins and agent Brian Cook but you'll need to get in fast to secure one. Due to unforeseen circumstances we are very sorry to announce that Judith Ridge is no longer able to present at this year's festival.
Her session, Running a Small Business - What Every Author/Illustrator Needs to Know, will however still go ahead, presented by experienced financial adviser John Strong. We are massively excited to announce that as part of this year's festival we will be hosting a special event for none other than bestselling author Matthew Reilly. Matthew is one of the true stars of the Australian writing scene and a hero to many aspiring authors having begun his career in self-publishing, before being discovered by a trade publisher and moving on to sell 170,000 copies of his first trade published book. Since then he has sold over 3.5 million books worldwide and had the movie rights optioned for several of his titles. Matthew has been on our wish-list of most wanted authors since the festival first began and we are delighted to finally have the opportunity to showcase the talent of this awesome Aussie author and be one of the first to launch his upcoming novel, The Tournament. |
