Welcome to the 4th Annual Sutherland Shire Writers' Festival Proudly brought to you by the Fellowship of Australian Writers, Sutherland Shire 11th & 12th November 2012
This year is all about More for Less. More speakers More sessions Providing More choices for you. Less expense as we lower the cost of admission so that More of you can join us.
Now in its fourth year, the Sutherland Shire Writers’ Festival is a growing community event.
From humble beginnings, we have expanded our program to incorporate workshops, book launches and publishing consultations as well as author talks and book signings.
With a strong focus on education and the encouragement of aspiring writer’s and illustrators, the festival also aims to promote and support Australian writers and publishers.
Though many of our presenters are at the top of their field, this year we are going out of our way to promote newly emerging talents. The topics and genres of writing presented aim to reflect the diversity of aspiring writers within our community. This year we will be running sessions concurrently to enable us to host double the number of talks, giving our attendees greater choice in which talks to attend.
Once again we will be incorporating a youth component to our festival. Our first Children's Day was a huge success and we have another fantastic line-up for the kids this year. The quality of Australian children’s literature is amongst the highest in the world and we are thrilled to be able to offer a chance for children in the Shire to learn from and be inspired by such talented authors and illustrators.
To help us celebrate the National Year of Reading and as a thank you to our wonderful host school we are also organising a visit to Grays Point P.S during the year by the amazingly talented Andy Griffths.
