Cancellation of Writers' Unleashed Festival for 2016
We are sorry to have to inform you that due to a range of personal and health issues across the Festival committee we very much regret that this year's Writers Unleashed Festival has had to be cancelled. We will reconvene for next year and hope that you will be available to attend 2017 Writers Unleashed.
The Picture Book competition is proceeding as planned. Winners will now be announced at our Sutherland Branch Fellowship of Australian Writers AGM at Sutherland Library on 29 October 2016 at 12.30. Invitations will be extended to competition winners and runners up.
Writers Unleashed has become very much a sought-after writers festival, and we will ensure that we continue to uphold the high standard for which we strive.
Welcome to the official website for
The 8th Sutherland Shire Writers' Festival Proudly brought to you by
the Fellowship of Australian Writers, Sutherland Shire
We have a jam packed one day festival, with fabulous writers, editors and books.
The Sutherland Shire Writers’ Festival, know as Writers' Unleashed, is a growing community and literary event.
From humble beginnings, we have expanded our program to incorporate workshops, book launches and publishing consultations as well as the author talks and book signings.
With a strong focus on the promotion and support of Australian writers and publishers, the festival also aims to educate and encourage aspiring writers and illustrators.
Many of our presenters are at the top of their field, though we also love to promote newly emerging talents. The topics and genres of books and literature presented aim to reflect the diversity of writers within Australia.
This year we will be running sessions concurrently in 3 rooms, devoted to presentations by Children's writers, YA writers and Adult Writers. There also will be panel discussions at the final session.
