The Sutherland Shire Writers’ Festival is a growing community event.
From humble beginnings, we have expanded our program to incorporate workshops, book launches and publishing consultations as well as author talks and book signings.
With a strong focus on the promotion and support of Australian writers and publishers, the festival also aims to educate and encourage aspiring writers and illustrators.
Many of our presenters are at the top of their field, though we also love to promote newly emerging talents. The topics and genres of books and literature presented aim to reflect the diversity of writers within Australia.
This year we will be running sessions concurrently in 3 rooms, devoted to presentations by Children's writers, YA writers and Adult Writers. There also will be panel discussions at the final session.
Once again we will be incorporating a youth component to our festival. Our first two Children's Days were a huge success and we have another fantastic line-up for the kids this year. The quality of Australian children’s literature is amongst the highest in the world and we are thrilled to be able to offer a chance for children in the Shire to learn from and be inspired by such talented authors and illustrators.
